Junior Allyssa Alley is the WHS High Times Featured Athlete of the Month for April. Allyssa is the starting goalie for the WHS Varsity Women’s soccer team.
“Receiving this honor was totally unexpected,” said Alley, “but I am very glad to receive this title.” Alley has been playing soccer since she was 10 years old and says she has two favorite playing positions, but if she had to choose her favorite, it would be goalie.
She also told our staff that her favorite subject in school was English because Mrs. Richardson is a great teacher. Alley doesn’t plan on continuing to play soccer for a team after graduating high school, but she plans to stay active and play with friends.
Since Alley is the goalie, we asked if she felt like this meant she shows leadership for her team.
“Yes, because some my teammates look up to me. I also tell my team what to do better and that they played well.”
“Come on, let’s go, and keep your head up!” are her favorite words of encouragement for her team. Alley has only allowed 5 goals this season, and only 1 of those goals was in a conference match.
Congratulations to Allyssa Alley on being Featured Athlete of the Month and continue to play hard!
